I never compared Dostoevsky to someone like Schopenhauer. Dostoevsky is basically a theistic existentialist, and his own personal philosophy resembles Kierkegaard. I've read Crime and Punishment and took some in-depth notes. I also read a lot of criticisms. Plustax can vouch for me - I knew this you dumbass.

In C & P Raskolnikov tries to commit suicide, but later drops it after witnessing a woman fail at it, if my memory serves me right. I don't think Dostoevsky ever glorifies suicide unlike Schopenhauer who once called it the greatest thing ever. Hell, even Zapffe, a nihilist, called it equally meaningless.
